"A Multicultural Experience" doesn't do today justice. My life was truly enriched today. As the Lunar New Year holiday draws to a close, a group from Okinawa University in Japan visited Tunghai today. Today's events included a demonstration in calligraphic art that acted as a wish list for what people wished for during the new year, a demonstration in making rice balls (containing either red bean paste or black sesame), a "feast" including many different types of food, and some Japanese cultural dancing and music. Two words...absolutely AWESOME. I was so pumped after the Okinawan students did their ritualistic dance that one of the dancers and I fistbumped after it was over.
For any Weight Watchers reading this - the feast wasn't all that healthy, but they handed out plates the size of saucers that you would put a tea cup on. Talk about your portion control!
Even my lunch conversation was cool. I conversed with an Indonesian today and he encouraged me to go there while I resided in this part of the world. I asked him how long the flight was, and he told me that Indonesia is seven hours away. I don't know if its an indirect flight or what, but I don't think I'm going to Bali. However, Hong Kong is definitely in our future. Tracy, you did read correctly...Millikin wants me to go there while I'm in Taiwan, and I want you to go with me.
My friend Nora will be sending me some pictures and prepare a short presentation on what happened today. I plan on sharing that as soon as possible.
